<< Back to the MAP -- Barramundi Fishing in Remote Northern Australia

TOP END FLYFISHING

Saltwater Flyfishing in Australia wouldn’t be complete without doing battle on the long wand with a multitude of tropical species. We have selected a flyfishing base that allows you to select a wide range of flyfishing options. In addition to Barramundi there are twenty seven species of tropical fish to be found in abundance in the tropical Northern Territory waters. We base our clients out of Cape Don .... A real top end experience!

Cape Don on Cobourg Peninsular has access to a wide variety of saltwater fly fishing environments for the experienced or the novice fly fisherman wanting that “catch of a lifetime”. Heralded as one of the best fishing locations in Australia, Cobourg Peninsula is an idyllic setting where fish are abundant and people are sparse. Jutting from the Northern Territory's north coast, this fishing mecca includes Gurig National Park, encompassing the Peninsula, and the surrounding waters in Cobourg Marine Park.

Site casting in the clear flats and estuary systems, the challenge of the big pelagic fish in the bluewater and the precision casting amongst the mangroves are all possible fly fishing experiences.

The Lodge has a fly tying station for the fly rodders wanting to try new fly styles on site with their experienced guide. Fly rods for practice or training, and specialty saltwater flies are available also.

A Top End saltwater flyfishing adventure takes some planning due to the remote nature of the environment, Flyfish Downunder prides itself in taking the planning workload from you so you can just decide on dates, ask as many questions as you wish and then simply turn up and enjoy yourself. If in doubt or just interested please ask.
