Top End Mothership Trip

For those who can spare the time and wish to flyfish in the most remote areas possible, our mother-ship operation takes you to regions well beyond the reach of anyone. You will sail north or south of Weipa soon after you arrive and experience a lazy social trip with a few drinks and dinner at sunset.

Your skipper will have you awake the next morning in a remote river system where you will be staggered by the flyfishing opportunities.

You will flyfish from specialised dories with a professional flyfishing guide who knows exactly where to take you in the prevailing conditions. These trips take up to six so if you have a group it is ideal, if not we place you on one of the charters were you will meet some interesting flyfishers. The mother-ship is ideal for the ladies and everyone appreciates all the comforts of home.

As an example, we took a group of six flyfishers north of Weipa and over the week counted fifty different species of fish. At one time we were flyfishing for metre long Queenfish with a rod length of line and a popper fly. Trying to rip it out of the water without hooking up was a real challenge!

During these trips you will have the opportunity to observe at close quarters the infamous Australian Crocodile and also some other unique experiences such as hand feeding giant estuary cod. The birdlife is also incredible.

And remember that we look after you like our best mates, the social side of these trips is a definite highlight.

Keep in mind that all top end charters are very popular and do require some planning. So give us plenty of time and we will do our best to get you organised for what we believe will be one of the most outstanding saltwater flyfishing experiences of your life.
